Adding a proof to your Basecamp Classic project

After you set up your Basecamp Classic integration you can start adding proofs to projects within your Basecamp Classic account.

The reviewers on the proof will then receive a message in their Basecamp account with the ProofHQ miniproof embedded.

Once they open the message they will be able to comment and make decisions on the proof from within their Basecamp account.

To add a proof to a Basecamp Classic project, do one of the following: To add a proof to Basecamp Classic, you must ensure that your Basecamp integration is enabled and that you have the relevant Basecamp account chosen in your Personal settings (as you can integrate with more than one Basecamp account, but only add proofs to one Basecamp account at a time).

After adding a proof to a Basecamp Classic project, your reviewers will be receive an email notificaition which will contain a link to view the proof in ProofHQ and a link to open the message in their Basecamp Classic account.
To add a new proof to your Basecamp Classic project:
  • In ProofHQ, go to the New proof page (1)
  • Upload your file(s) as normal (2)
  • If you would like to notify your reviewers by email ensure this option is enabled (your Basecamp reviewers will receive an additional Basecamp message)(3)
  • In the Organize section, click Add proof to a Basecamp project. This will open the Basecamp options pop-up. (4)



In the Add to Basecamp pop-up:
  • Make sure to click "Refresh the data" to synchronize with Basecamp Classic before proceeding (1)
  • Decide if you want this proof to be Private in Basecamp (option not available in New Basecamp)(2)
  • Choose your Basecamp Classic project (3)
  • Choose your Basecamp Classic Message Category (4)
  • Select the tick box for the reviewer(s) in your Basecamp Classic account that you want to add to the proof (5). Reviewers will appear in their default role/email alert. The selected reviewers will receive a message in Basecamp for this proof and also an email notification from ProofHQ.
    • Please note that if reviewer defaults have been changed, you must refresh the Basecamp data before the new defaults will be used. To refresh the Basecamp data click the "refresh" link on the Basecamp popup in ProofHQ.
    • Include your own name if you also want to receive the message in Basecamp
  • Click OK to save and close the pop-up. (6)



After completing the Add to Basecamp pop-up, apply any other settings you require for your proof (as normal) and click Save to submit your proof.
You can connect an existing proof with your Basecamp Classic project. To do this:
  • In ProofHQ, go to the Proof details page (1)
  • Scroll down to the Workflow section and expand the More sharing options section (2)
  • Make sure Proof URL and Embed code are set to "Enable" (3)
  • Click the Add proof to a Basecamp project link. This will open the Basecamp options pop-up. (4)



In the Add to Basecamp pop-up:
  • Make sure to click "Refresh the data" to synchronize with Basecamp Classic before proceeding (1)
  • Decide if you want this proof to be Private in Basecamp (option not available in New Basecamp) (2)
  • Choose your Basecamp Classic project (3)
  • Choose your Basecamp Classic Message Category (4)
  • Select the tick boxes for the reviewers in your Basecamp Classic account that you want to add to the proof. (5) Reviewers will appear in their default role/email alert. The selected reviewers will receive a message in Basecamp for this proof and also an email notification from ProofHQ.
    • Please note that if reviewer defaults have been changed, you must refresh the Basecamp data before the new defaults will be used. To refresh the Basecamp data click the "refresh" link on the Basecamp popup in ProofHQ.
    • Include your own name if you also want to receive the message in Basecamp
  • Click OK to save and close the pop-up. (6)



After you have added the proof to your Basecamp Classic project, you will see additional options showing in the More sharing options section of the Proof details page. You will be able to:
  • Edit the Basecamp Classic project details (1)
  • Go to the message in Basecamp Classic by clicking the project URL (the URL includes an identifier for this proof) (2)



Please note: If you do not have a Basecamp Classic session open in another browser window, you must sign in to your Basecamp Classic account before you can see the message in Basecamp.
